He's right.
There is a checklist of symptoms that differentiate between major depression and dysthymia.
For symptoms related to each disorder, go to WebMD and check them out.

I tell you the first hand truth- [READ THIS.]
as a psychologist, its his job to prescribe medication, and thats where he earns money. [therefore in reality, he just wants to make money off of you and hook people on enough drugs to pay for his second home]
-there isnt a high risk if you have no previous thoughts/idealizations of suicide [im talking every day here] and the medication makes you feel more active, and people starting a course of antidepressants are actually more likely to engage in risky and suicidal behaviour because they have the energy to do so.
- about 3.4% of people with major depression commit suicide [wikipedia] that's not a high risk if you ask me.
- and major =regular..there is no difference here
- you cant legitimately tell if a person really has major depression after the first session. [again..he just wants to make $ off of you]
- the medication has TERRIBLE side effects that messes with your emotions and has a pretty high chance of messing you up or even giving you brain damage...[i know from personal experience and have heard this from everyone ive met who has tried depression medication]
- also, they dont work most of the time and are only a crutch if you are actually depressed..they dont CURE it- they just give you artificial happiness [its sad really]
----so..im conclusion - DONT TAKE IT...there are enough people drugged up in the world [and most of these people drugged up for no real reason] that trust 'professionals' without question.
its really stupid, it is..

heres an article you may want to read: http://www.mookychick.co.uk/body/health-and-depression/potential-side-effects-of-antidepressants.php

Depression is depression. There are different levels of depression and they are defined in the DSM4. People with severe depression are at risk for suicide, but a lot more has to be considered, such as, ARE you suicidal? Do you think about death and dying? Do you feel hopeless, worthless and guilty? All those add up to a pretty good case for medication. If the depression is less severe, without suicidal thoughts, counseling can be very effective. If you seriously disagree with the psychologist, talk to him/her about it and if you cannot work together, find someone else to see, there are lots of different therapists and you can find someone compatible with you.

Major depression and regular depression are the same thing. You should take the medication. Medication helps millions of people get out of depressions.

Also, check out "depression self help" and "natural cures" at www.depressiondodging.com for other ways that you can help yourself.

Here's your answer:

Job growth since Obama took office:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/speakerpelosi/7061169801/in/photostream/lightbox/

Private sector job growth since Obama took office: http://www.flickr.com/photos/speakerpelosi/7061169775/in/photostream/lightbox/

Manufacturing job growth since Obama took office: http://www.flickr.com/photos/speakerpelosi/6821297360/in/photostream/lightbox/

Compare that to what Bush handed him.

That was the sound of FACTS slapping you.

You mad?

EDIT: Because all the jobs gained since Obama took office, was not enough to supersede the jobs lost from the end of Bush's term and the first several months of Obama's term.

The bailouts. If that had not been done, and world economist agree that there would have been a world wide depression. Although some countries have defaulted it would have been much worse. I knot the C0ns in here disagree, but they can't take a moment to give any real consideration to anything but hate.
