I had an ectopic pregnancy about a year ago and am really struggling to get over our loss. I have good days and bad days but overall I feel like I’m a little depressed. We’ve been trying to conceive for roughly 9 months with no success and that’s really adding to the depression. Could the fact that I am depressed affect our chances? If so, are there any medications I could take that would help with the depression without harming a pregnancy?
Depression probably wouldn’t have so much to do with it, to be honest. But, it is a red flag to me that you had an ectopic pregnancy. The reason why you aren’t getting pregnant again is because you could have a blockage in your tube(s) that’s causing a problem with either the sperm getting to the egg or with implantation. My suggestion is that you have an HSG (dye test) done to see if your tubes are clear.
The only other thing is to verify that you are ovulating. This can be done with a simple blood test 7 days after you suspect ovulation took place. If you are having trouble ovulating there’s medication they can give you to help.
Good luck to you, I’m very sorry for your loss. I wish you peace and healing.
