Republicans and Blue Democrats reject all public option plans?
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE58S58G20090929?feedType=RSS&feedName=politicsNews
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday rejected including a government-run "public" insurance option, which is backed by President Barack Obama, in its sweeping healthcare reform bill.
The panel voted 15-8 against a government-run insurance plan in the first of what is expected to be several battles in Congress over the public option, one of the most contentious issues in the raging U.S. debate over healthcare reform.
Obama has made reforming the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system his top domestic priority.
Five Democrats joined all the panel Republicans in opposing inclusion of the government-run option in the bill. The issue is expected to be raised again in the full Senate and the House of Representatives.
The Senate Finance plan by Democratic Chairman Max Baucus is the only healthcare bill pending in Congress that does not have a public insurance plan, which Obama and other backers say would boost competition for insurers.
Republican critics said the public option would devastate the private insurance industry and ultimately lead to a government takeover of the sector.
Democratic Senator John Rockefeller, who offered an amendment to insert a public option, said the approach would give the public more choices and force the insurance industry to compete.
"Who comes first, the insurance companies or the American people?" he asked.
Senator Charles Grassley, the senior Republican on the panel, said the public option would represent a first step toward what he said was the eventual goal of Democrats — a complete government-run health insurance system.
"A government-run plan will ultimately drive private insurers out of business," Grassley said. "If you support government bureaucrats, not doctors, making decisions, you should support this amendment."
This only leaves Baucus’s plan, what are your thoughts on this update, predictable? joyful? sad? Fill me in.

The democrats will make it happen once the plan is perfected. They don’t want it on the main senate floor until it’s perfected.

Who wants to pay a fortune for a system that doesn’t work?
If the entire cost were leveled onto your or your parents or kids shoulders, you’d look way beyond this discussion of "how we disguise the fact that we all pay for it" and consider why we pay TEN TIMES what most advanced nations pay for equal or better medical services.

As long as there are no abortions, no coverage for illegal criminal aliens, and no public option, as well as me not paying for it, I say cool

I saw it one yahoo’s front page.
I was expecting this would be the result from the Senate.
The worst part for democrats is that the public option is out and yet the mandate and fine is in.

I would love to ask Democratic Senator John Rockefeller, "Who comes first, the banks or the American people?" What a hypocrite!!

The doors are covertly opening again to another illegal immigration invasion. We now discerned that religious organizations are trying to use their congregations as a fulcrum to apply president Obama’s Immigration reform package. It’s in my mind that just people of the Baptist faith like myself, who are ardent worshipers, but whoever live in the stark veracity of real-time. Many are aware of the dangers of leniency for lawbreakers, that will be even more magnified by not only those already here, but the destitute restless people waiting for the–AMNESTY–bell to clang? It’s utterly irrational to expect that millions more will not tear across our borders? Yes! They will greatly benefit, but what about the 15 million jobless Americans?
There is no possible way Citizens and legal residents can compete in this deep recession, against the poor of other countries? An avalanche of the young and old that will devour billions of more dollars from government handouts, to not only clothe shelter and feed them, but the illegal laborers wages partly transferred abroad? Churchgoers may think they are doing god’s work, but what they are actually doing is stealing the bread from American children’s table, low income families lifeline of paying for gas to get them to work, pay for an apartment? The magnet of course is the inevitable abhorrent businesses, who will solicit for minimum wage illegal aliens to build on their profits. THIS IS WHY WE MUST DEMAND NATIONWIDE E-VERIFY! A COMMITMENT FROM THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO MAKE IT MANDATORY FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS A JOB, TO BE VETTED. THAT NOBODY SHOULD BE EXEMPT. PENALTIES FOR NOT UTILIZING E-VERIFY, SHOULD BE EXEMPLARY? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AMERICAN LIVES IN TURMOIL, BECAUSE JOBS ARE BEING STOLEN BY ILLEGAL WORKERS.Its operation will draw to the surface illegal labor who should not be here. We should inform ICE of anybody hiring illegal immigrants or you have suspicion of underpaid workers. My church pastor on the outskirts of Indianapolis has been playing on the congregation’s sensitivities, but the good man was unable to answer the torrent of questions?
Least of all myself, who explained how the Council of Foreign Relations has been planning for years, to incorporate Mexico and Canada with ourselves, to import an unceasing flow of cheap labor? Or that the ACLU was founded by a communist or that groups like the Southern Poverty league was substantially financed by the business community, to undermine the reputations of anti-illegal immigrant groups. That even the radical ethnic caucuses such as La Raza was furnished by grants from our own government or corporate concerns. That in actual fact–WE–are paying the price tag as taxpayers for our own downfall? Unless a large majority of the population yells down the phone-lines at 202-224-3121 this nation will become a balkanized society?
This country was built on the strength of one language, one Judeo-Christian culture. Multicultural societies usually collapse, as in the Middle East. Even in the developed countries of Europe, their is a tenuous unsettled calm that will erupt finally over both legal and illegal immigration. Even America cannot support millions more people in their vehicles on eroding highways and surface streets. Our infrastructure has been blatantly ignored for years, bridges in urgent disrepair. We remain mostly alone in fighting foreign wars and other countries are telling us, that the dollar is unlikely to be the main trading currency. Then we have programmed political idiots we elected telling us, we need to pass a path to citizenship for the 20 million plus unfortunate peasant who illegally crossed our border.
WHERE IS THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS COMING FROM TO SUPPORT THE POOR PEOPLE OF THE WORLD? THE TAXPAYERS POCKET OF COURSE? My faith is very important to me, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to commit financial suicide. Let these illegal aliens get there own governments in order, and not take from us? The Urgent truth can be found at NUMBERSUSA. Read about the corruption in Washington at JUDICIAL WATCH. CAPSWEB for the truth about OVERPOPULATION. BE REST ASSURED THAT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPECTED TO BE GUARDIANS OF ALL AMERICANS, ARE IN ACTUAL FACT THE PUPPETS OF THE BUSINESS CONSORTIUM’S AND SPECIAL INTEREST LOBBYISTS.

In a free country, health care decisions are made between individuals, their families, and their doctors.

The Public Option means that there will be an insurance policy provided by the government, that will undercut the price of insurance from private companies, will allow current employers to abandon their current options for employees and dump them into the public option, and thus bankrupt private options, creating a socialized health care system….liberals true objective.
Wake-up America!!!
This is the stepping-stone to socialized care that 0bama wants. How can any company compete with a government hell-bent on shutting them down financially? Why would any employer keep private insurance costing 15% of payroll, when the public option is 8%? It’s deliberate price-fixing and undercutting to create a Federal monopoly.

I’m happy they rejected it but I’m sure since Pelosi demands a public option it will be slid back in somewhere.

A Gov’t run health care option will destroy the excellent medical treatment we recieve today.
I heard a speech by BO today. He said that he wants a plan that has no yearly or lifetime limit. How much do you think the premiums would be on that plan? Oh, ya, nothing, the gov’t will be paying for it! Where do you think the gov’t is going to get the money to pay for those premiums? OUR POCKETS! Oh, well, they can tax the rich at 50%. Well, there’s a way to stop that. Quit making money. Quit investing in businesses that are profitable and employ people so that you don’t need to pay taxes anymore. Hmm. That would put people out of work and then they won’t be able to pay taxes either. Who will pay for this wonderful healthcare plan? Oh. I suppose BO could just have the Federal Reserve print more money. That would be just fine. Then the bill would be paid.

There will be a public option/government run health care. How else are people going to be accommodated?
Private insurers don’t need to be run out of business. They will just have to abide by new rules and regulations and will not be able to be picky and fickle when it comes to providing what people pay for.
Doctors and medical facilities will also have to charge less for their services and provide even better care at a reduced cost.
Right now, we have insurance companies, Big pharm, medical facilities and doctors who more concerned about padding their own pockets first before they do what they are supposed to be doing and that is keeping people healthy first and foremost.
Some people vehemently defend our present health care system and say that it is wonderful and all they could ever hope for. Obviously, they have become victims and rationale thought is no longer an OPTION as they have been totally indoctrinated by a false set of values and beliefs that they are in GOOD HANDS.
Wake up people!

Golly, what else is new? The working class gets #$%ed again and the corporate bloodsuckers laugh all the way to the bank….the bank that got a big government bail out…eventually paid for by the
#$%@ed over working class. ‘Ya gotta’ love these guys. Ah, well…next year when more Americans pay more than ever for their ‘benefits’, or have no benefits they can take comfort in waving their made in China flags and shaking their little crosses. Do I care? Why should I? I’ve got Medicare and the VA….what’s in your wallet?
