Suicide is mainly popular in America (firearm is the most common way to be honest.) The difference is that suiide ideation is people who are just thinking of their problems but not actually resolving them by suicide, suicide attempts are people who are so desperate they will do anything to get away from their lives. I think almost everyone has had at least one moment in their life where they thought about suicide, even if only briefly.
