A Broken Life

How should I start off and end a speech about teenage suicide?

Within the speech I will be speaking about suicide rates, suicidal behavior, common ways of suicide, and how suicidal people can get help. So yeah, does anyone have any ideas to how I can start off and end a speech about teenage suicide?
Your help is appreciated thanks.

I THINK IT WOULD BE REALLY COOL IF YOU JUST STARTED OFF BY SAYING RANDOM STATISTICS ABOUT suicide. Something like (don’t mind the statistics i made them up) this look around the room, 44% OF ATHLETES WILL/HAVE COMMITED SUICIDE, 12% of students attending private school have/will commit suicide,10% of students commiting suicide weren’t on drugs 15% of students living in normal middle class households will/have commit suicide, 30% of teens who have/will commit suicide have totally oblivious friends, 20% of students who commit suicide had shocked teachers and parents, 70% of people who knew students who commit suicide had no idea it was coming. Now look around the room, do these people seem happy, think about it. (then talk about like how you can help this stop) GOOD LUCK!!!!

MIND on Pain: When Pain Lingers (preview)

Imagine you are a doctor treating a patient who has been in nearly constant pain for four years, ever since the day he sprained his ankle stepping off a curb. Physical therapy only briefly dulled the agony. Painkillers were not much better, and the most effective drugs made your patient exhausted and constipated. He is now depressed, sleeping poorly and having difficulty concentrating. As you talk with him, you realize that his thinking also seems impaired. Your exam confirms that the original injury has healed. Only pain and its consequences remain–and your options for helping this man are running out.

This scenario plays out every day in doctors’ offices around the world. Fifteen to 20 percent of adults worldwide suffer from persistent, or chronic, pain. Half the primary care patients who develop a chronic pain condition fail to recover within a year, according to surveys conducted by the World Health Organization. Common causes of such unrelenting discomfort include physical trauma, arthritis, cancer, and metabolic diseases such as diabetes that can damage nerves. In many cases, however, the pain’s origins are mysterious.

Okay so I am doing a project on teen suicide and need help!?

How many pills would you need to take to assure 100% death and does doing it with alcohol really help? Say what if I took all the pills I could find, is there any chance I would wake up without throwing up or something. Also, what are the stats on teen suicsuicides using pills?

Woah, maybe you should call a suicide prevention center. They have tons of info on how people take their own lives.

In my opinion, not being medicated and using heavy drugs can influence deadly thoughts.

I think your project should focus more on proactive prevention or survival of mental illnesses.

Are you asking because you want to take pills yourself??????
