Question by Lakin J: Do you believe in mental illness, ie bi-polar, ADHD, ect are real?
I’m not bashing mental patients, drs or anything. It’s just there is no actual “test” like an x-ray for a broken leg that I know of. However, I have seen that deep brain therapy on a tv special about severe depression and it was incredible.

What do you think? Is mental illness diagnosis way over used, is society just looking for pills to make them happy or what?

I think some kids are labeled adhd prematurely, some kids are just antsy, but my son has bi-polar, he is 12, and believe me, if you had to live with it everyday, you wouldn’t be asking if it was for real!

Hi, I just want to know if bipolar people think too much, or the obsessive compulsive disorder could be related with bipolarity.

I have obsessive compulsive disorder, but I have periods for example, I can feel very happy, and with more sexual desires, but I don’t have bad behavior, and I sleep less this it`s like a week or maybe two. And I have depresive periods, very but I think so much. Well I just want to know If this it’s for be obsessive or something else. Thank you.
yes I see a doctor and he said that he needs to study my case and said too that all started as a OCD but I don’t tell him nothing about my mood, I was in a severe depression but I’m taking Prozac and I feel good. I`m not a teenager I have 24 and all started since I was 16 years old.

Question by Jonathan B: Mental discipline for the nearly hopeless?
Just a few of my “symptoms” before I continue:
severe depression/anxiety
trouble keeping a job and no idea for a career
health problems, including obesity
damaged friendships, no lasting relationships, family discord
no direction in life
financial troubles

…just to name a few. I need the discipline to basically get on with my life and keep moving forward. I need to be in control of things and not let them control me. The military is out of the question, but ideally, I want something that is the equivalent of Marine special ops training without the physical aspect. However, if i am “forced” to do that well enough, I would consider it. I believe that if the mind is in shape, everything else inevitably falls into place. If there is a program that does this type of thing, or if you have any helpful suggestions, please let me know. Obviously, I am not as mature of an adult as I need to be, so I ask that all answers are from mature adults.
I have also been looked down upon by those who have the mental discipline and control that I desire. I want to also be able to stand up for myself without making anyone else feel as bad as I have.

Wow you described my life……., I suggest you get somebody you trust to keep you on track forcefully, as for yourself, you need to be willing to listen and do what they tell you. (something I need to do with my own life but don’t have to courage to……, I wish you luck).

Question by : is it depression or ADD or both ?
Hello everyone, okay so i have been suffering from severe depression disorder for a while now “few years”, and it has been affecting my ability to study real real bad. i also feel like i have ADD i have made some online tests ” nothing official” and it seemed like i do have ADD. if i only could not focus very well on school then i would say yes maybe it’s depression, but i also keep getting distracted ALL THE TIME, also i cant be in a class i hate being in a class for so long i get bored and because i cannot focus i feel like each hour is 3 years and i simply need to MOVE.

so all of these symptoms made me believe that i have ADD along with depression ” how awesome, huh? “, so i told my psychiatric and she gave me some Ritalin to be taken with the antidepressants i’m on since few years, i was so excited in the beginning but it was awful, i was paranoid all the time and even had to make emergency call to the hospital because i felt very suicidal so i was asked to immediately stop taking Ritalin.

my psychiatric said that i probably do not have ADD, all of these symptoms mentioned above can be also symptoms of depression. and she said she wont put me on ADD meds until i overcome my depression . i understand her but i mean if i really do have ADD i will never be able to study without the meds, what am i suppose to do is it true that these symptoms can be also side effects of depression ?

i also have depression, im noto sure really what the symptoms are alone because i had an ED with my depression, or depression with my ED,, im not too sure but it sounds like it., talk to someone!
